| There are 4 schools in Mahavilachchiya and a considerable student population is receiving education in these schools now. But the facilities in village schools are limited and most of the teachers are from outstations and when they get transfers students will lose the opportunity of studying some subjects like English, mathematics and science. Hence, sometimes the syllabus will not be covered at the end of the year. As there are no tuition classes in the village except in Anuradhapura town the students does not have the opportunity of covering up the lessons that are not sometimes done in schools. Further, for advanced level education only Art Stream classes are found in these schools and, therefore the students who wish to do their A/L in science or mathematics streams have to go to the city wasting a lot of time on the way. How ever, now in Mahavilachchiya, students learn well and there is a competition between village and the city. |
